New Balance 2002R and 1906: the most technical

The 2002R is the 2020 reissue of a premium runner from 2010. It has an ABZORB midsole and an N-ergy outsole, and we have two versions from the Protection Pack, the New Balance 2002R Protection Pack Rain Cloud and the Phantom, with layered suede and cut-outs that reveal the mesh underneath. The 1906 came out in 2009 as a running shoe and takes its name from the year the brand was founded; it has N-ergy in the sole and a midfoot strap system that tightens as you lace up. Online you will find it as the 1906R Silver Black and the 1906A in black.

New Balance 530 and 740: lighter-looking

If the 2002R feels too chunky, the 530 White Silver Navy and the 740s take a cleaner route, with more white and a slightly sleeker silhouette. You can get the 740 in Castlerock, a dark grey, and in the 740v2 Blue Agate White version. They work just as well with straight-leg jeans, chinos or a grey tracksuit.
