This selection of running shoes includes two types of pair, and it is worth knowing which is which before you choose. Some are made for training and racking up the miles; others look like running shoes but were designed for walking and everyday wear.

Running shoes for training

The Hoka Clifton 11 is the daily trainer for easy runs and long runs, with a CMEVA midsole. You can get it in Boulder Grey and also in a GTX version, with GORE-TEX for the rain. The Hoka Bondi 9 has more foam, a 5 mm drop and a firm ride, good for recovery days; there are colourways like River Rock Grey and White Citrus. For running faster there is the adidas Adizero Evo SL, with a full Lightstrike Pro midsole and a small midfoot plate instead of a full carbon plate. It performs best at tempo pace, and we have it in Purple Green and Off White Aurora Comet, among others.

Running-style shoes for everyday wear

The On Cloudtilt looks like a running shoe, but it is designed for walking and everyday use. It has the CloudTec Phase system, which helps the foot roll forward, moderate cushioning and elastic laces that let you slip it on without untying. You will find it in Glacier Ice or Black Ivory. It is great for the city and for travelling, not for training.

If you already know you want On, head to On Running. We ship across Europe, and you can ask about these models in our stores in Madrid, Barcelona and Paris.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which running shoe should I choose for easy runs?

The Hoka Clifton 11 is the most versatile in the selection for easy runs and long runs. If you care more about stability than lightness, the Bondi 9 is higher-stacked and firmer. The adidas Adizero Evo SL makes more sense once you are adding changes of pace.

Can you run in the On Cloudtilt?

That is not what it is for. The Cloudtilt is designed for walking and everyday wear, with moderate cushioning and an outsole with little grip on wet surfaces. For running, one of the Hokas or the Adizero Evo SL is a better choice.

What paces is the adidas Adizero Evo SL for?

It performs best when you push: tempo runs, changes of pace and daily runs at a lively pace. Its Lightstrike Pro foam is very soft and responsive, but without a full carbon plate it is not a pure racing shoe. It has a roomy toe box, so it suits medium to high-volume feet well.

Which shoe should I choose for walking or standing for long hours?

The On Cloudtilt is designed for exactly that, with elastic laces so you can slip it on without untying. If you prefer more foam underfoot, the Hoka Bondi 9 works really well for walking and long days on your feet, and it also covers easy runs. You will find every Bondi colourway in Hoka Bondi 9.
