History of False Gods

Talking about Fake Gods is to do it with the new streetwear hype in Spain, which has positioned itself as one of the reference brands for Generation Z. In this article, we are going to tell you all about their origins, the reasons for their success, as well as some of their most famous collaborations.

And if you like them, take a look at our stores because you can find their products.

Who created FakeGods

Mario Núñez and Eric Buyers are the young founders of FakeGods. A brand that came to light in such a turbulent year as 2020, which marked us all with the dramatic Covid-19 pandemic.

These two friends took advantage of the lockdown to develop a university project which ended up becoming a whole business plan. Paradoxically, they barely passed, but that was no obstacle for them to believe in the viability of the business.

And they have done so well that thanks to their perseverance, their popularity is through the roof today, managing to dress personalities like urban artist Quevedo or the star of the Spanish national football team, Pedri.

Designed and manufactured in Barcelona

Perhaps one of the aspects that has most the impact on the public has been the closeness of Fake Gods, starting with its origin. Both the development of the idea and much of its production take place in Spain.

In fact, the founders themselves pointed out on the Esquire men's fashion website that the customized garments for artists, bags, and accessories are produced in the closest environment.

What inspires the brand

The Barcelona label focuses on street culture, with an American touch, but without looking back at its origins. In addition, it has a notable influence of music, always linked to the streetwear spirit.

But the fact of joining the most classic wave of this type of garments does not prevent them from perfectly capturing their own style, always trying to differentiate themselves with touches of retro and vintage.

Since its creation

Since it burst onto the Spanish streetwear scene, Fake Gods has not stopped growing. Its evolution has been as meteoric as it is coherent, gaining ground among a young audience by playing its cards at the social media level like few brands have done.

The brand has managed to maintain the freshness of its beginnings without losing ambition, adapting to trends, but always with its own narrative that connects with its community.

And one of the most effective ways to achieve this has been through collaborations with famous personalities from all fields, who are connected to their target audience.

 Collaborations

  • Quevedo: together with the Canarian artist, Fake Gods designed a limited edition biker-style leather bomber jacket, incorporating a star that represents the musician’s impact.
  • Gerard Piqué: the former FC Barcelona footballer has been seen wearing Fake Gods garments at numerous events, which has contributed to the brand’s visibility in the sports field.
  • Pedri González: another top figure who has collaborated with Fake Gods is the international footballer with the Spanish national team, who, thanks to his age, fully connects with the audience born in the 21st century.
  • Sergi Roberto: the current Como 1907 player has been another figure who has managed to take the garments beyond our country’s borders. The former Barça captain has always stood out for his passion for fashion, and Fake Gods pieces are never missing from his wardrobe.

These are some of the most representative, but the list doesn’t end there. Other celebrities from the Spanish scene like singer Saiko, model Lía Sikora, or footballer Ángel Alarcón have also worn their garments or have collaborated directly in the development process.

It is worth mentioning that the brand has an enormous impact, already reaching one hundred thousand followers on Instagram and which by itself is becoming a draw for top figures who want to wear their clothes.
